It's likely you've heard of AAA - you know, the American Automobile Association. They're widely known as the kings of the road, providing roadside assistance for stranded motorists, but they can do so much more than save you from a flat tire. They can also save you from spending too much money on everyday things. From eyeglasses to sporting events to restaurant discounts, AAA really makes their membership worth the money.
There are three tiers of membership: Classic ($56), Plus ($91) and Premier ($119). Personally, I think the Premier membership is worth every penny. You get all the benefits they have to offer as well as 200 miles of free towing, $150 in home and car locksmith reimbursement, plus free fuel and fuel delivery if you run out of gas. The benefits they offer are too numerous to list in one short blog post and benefits vary by location, but they make it easy to figure out what's available in each city, state or area by going to their website and entering your zip code. Voila! It directs you to the AAA website specifically tailored to you.
Although AAA offers numerous discounts on many products and services, my favorite money saver from AAA is their discount movie tickets. Who doesn't love to go to a theatre to see your favorite action flick on the big screen with a big tub of hot popcorn slathered in butter substitute with a side of a sloppy hot dog and a giant Coke? But movies are so expensive and that can really hurt your pocket book, especially if you have a large family. AAA to the rescue! They offer up movie tickets to some of the biggest theaters at a fraction of the price you'll pay on Fandango or at the box office. For instance, a Regal Premiere Ticket is a mere $8.99 and that's good for any show, any time. It's not like a gift pass with blackouts. These tickets are considered the same as any other ticket. If you prefer an AMC Theatre, you can get an AMC Yellow Ticket for $8.99. My neighborhood theater is Cinemark where I pick up the AAA Cinemark SuperSaver Ticket for a measly $8.49 a piece! You can buy up to six tickets at a time, good for any day, any showing and they don't expire. During the holidays I head over to my local AAA each day and stock up on tickets for stocking stuffers. The money I've saved on movie tickets has easily paid for my membership!
If I haven't convinced you yet that AAA is a great place to save money, just do a quick Internet search for your local AAA to see what they have to offer you in your neck of the woods. Happy savings!

Alright, my little entrepreneurs, it's time to talk about money. I'm talking about selling your goods or services and getting paid. In this digital world, payments are not always made in cash and sometimes you have to take credit card payments. Say what? But what if I'm a traveling salesman who doesn't carry around a credit card reader? That's where your iPhone comes in handy. There's a company called Square (click on the link) that let's you take credit cards with your iPhone, iPad, computer or card scanner. It's free to sign up and they even send you the card swiper for zero dollars. And that's not all. They don't have monthly fees, no minimums and no signup costs. The transaction fees are low - a flat rate of 2.75% for swiped transactions, 3.5% + $0.15 for keyed transactions, and 2.9% + $0.30 for online charges. The best thing is you don't get charged if you don't use it. Oh, did I mention that your money is there for you the same day? None of that five day waiting that the banks pull. No sir! So leave that PayPal dinosaur and head over to Square to complete your transactions. By using the link above you'll get a little bonus and so will I.

Admit it. You like McDonald’s. I’m not judging. I mean, I get it. Warm fries packed with flavor. Hot and fresh burgers dripping with sauce and cheese. Funny little chicken nuggets (are they really chicken?) that changed the way every child ate fast food. Personally, I’m a huge fan of Happy Meals. They’re just the right amount of food in proportional segments and joined by a delightful and “relevant to the current mainstream cartoon world” toy. What more could you ask for in a lunch? Well, here a few tidbits that will add even more joy to those McMeals.
First, did you know that McDonald’s has an app? Although some folks aren’t fans of the McApp, this app has both time and money savers that can really add up. Let’s look at the time savers first. Orders can be made directly from the app and be ready to go when you reach the restaurant. This is so handy when you’re in a rush! Just place your order, pay through the app, show up at the curbside pickup and be on your way! Of course, you also have to option of picking up at the drive-thru or inside too. Just pick the quickest route. The app also lets you save your favorite meals so that reordering is a one-click breeze and the app has a map showing each location nearby so you don’t have to use a third party app to find the closest restaurant.
As for the money savers, the app offers deals and coupons that you can’t get anywhere else. And when you download and sign in for the first time, you get a bonus like a buy one get one free burger.
If apps aren’t for you, read on. My favorite McDonald’s hack is on the good, old-fashioned receipt. Next time you go, look at the top of your receipt. There might just be a survey at mcdvoice.com. Go there, follow the instructions (no personal info necessary) and receive a buy one get one free code. I’ve only seen this for breakfast sandwiches and quarter pounders, but each time can save you about $5.00. I do this for every single receipt from McDonald’s and have easily saved over $100 in free food. To add a little variety and healthy options to your burgers, add tomato and lettuce for about 40 cents and you’re still ahead.
So indulge that McDonald’s craving and save money at the same time. Maybe take a friend along. You can afford it.

Okay, so you love Starbucks, but it’s hard on your budget. Fear not, I’m here to help! There are some hacks to help you save money at Starbucks so you can keep those lattes flowing.
First and foremost, download the app. Just like every other big company, Starbucks has an app that is designed to save you money and keep you coming back time and again. The best thing about their app is that they spend lots of time and money to streamline it making it very user friendly. The number one benefit of using the app is their rewards program. Every purchase you make earns rewards points that go towards free food and drink. It also frees up time by letting you order ahead so your order is waiting for you when you get there. Another benefit is the free birthday beverage to help you celebrate your special day.
Aside from the app benefits, if you bring your own cup for your drink, Starbucks will knock 30 cents off of your bill. Now, that might not seem like much, but 10 visits equals $3.00 and that’s a free sandwich or drink!
Bundle all of this up with free WiFi and you’re savings really add up.
Last, but not least, check with your local Starbucks about free wine tastings and Happy Hour to round out your savings.
Starbucks is enjoyable on its own, but knowing you’re saving money each time you go will make you and your wallet much happier.
